My follow up with Colby this week was very disappointing and discouraging. I'm 11 weeks out on a total knee replacement and from the time I woke up from surgery I have been in pain. I get very little sleep because the pain on the inside of my knee is very bad at night. Colby had me put my leg up on a stool to check my extension (I think it would have been much better if I had been laying on the table). He also checked my flexion and feels that I'm not where I should be. He never once touched the knee itself. I have been slow to get my range of motion back, but work on it every day at home and with my PT. The only option Colby offered me was to "cut me open again" and clean out the scar tissue. This really shocked me - plus by opening me back up again it will create new scar tissue. My PT says the problem is I have severe muscle guarding. I asked Colby it he thought a muscle relaxant would help and he prescribed 10 days worth (not sure that will be enough to help). Before he left the room he made the comment that my knee is functional and this may be as good as it gets. This was so discouraging to me because I do not feel the knee is functional. I did the surgery so I could get back to riding my horse, doing dog agility with my dog and hiking - I left wondering if I will ever be able to do any of these activities again. Possibly this is a failed surgery, but my PT thinks I will improve with time - I sure hope so.

Dr. Simonton was great to meet. He was very nice and listened to all I had to say and he was very informative. I did sit in the lobby for one hour before be taken into the back part of the office and was even told to come in 15 minutes before my appointment time. That seemed excessive!

Megan was very efficient, friendly and did a great job!

She was wonderful, explaining everything about my hip replacement answer all my questions, thank you.
